In their Fremantle character home, Hannah’s family gave IKEA PAX wardrobes across four rooms a designer face lift with Fliplab Flat doors in soft matte Coolum Sand and Paperbark. Paired with deep red marble and walnut handles, the result feels custom-built and warm, with practical storage that can grow with the girls, all for a fraction of the cost of a cabinet maker.
Featured in The Design Files: Elevating Flat-Pack Cabinetry

We were delighted to have a profile feature in The Design Files, Australia’s go-to design inspiration blog and magazine.
At the heart of the feature is the simple idea Fliplab was founded on:
Spend on what you see, save where you don’t.
Before starting Fliplab, our founder Sacha Leagh-Murray spent years at Laminex Australia. There, she saw how much people cared about the colour, material and detail of their joinery, and how hard it could be to achieve the result they imagined within their budget. Custom joinery is often out of reach, while standard flatpack doors can feel limiting.
Fliplab was created to fill that gap.
We design Australian-made custom doors, drawer fronts and panels that work with modular cabinetry from IKEA and Bunnings. Customers use the cabinet boxes for the layout, then choose Fliplab fronts for the finished look. That means the budget goes towards the materials, colours and details you see and touch every day. Every surface we use comes from trusted Australian names like Laminex and Polytec.
From simple flat fronts to Shaker-inspired, scalloped and painted profiles, there are options at different price points, whether you want to keep things understated or make a bigger design statement.
The feature also showcases some of our favourite customer projects, including a ’70s kitchen in Geelong, a warm walnut Carlton terrace kitchen, and a Perth renovation where Fliplab doors were used across wardrobes in four bedrooms, saving thousands compared to custom robes.
For Sacha, it all comes back to the people we work with: “Seeing a customer’s ideas become a real space is the best part.”
Many customers arrive with a collection of references and a feeling for how they want a room to look, but aren’t sure how to bring it together. Our Melbourne showroom and virtual consultations are designed to help with exactly that.
