Fliplab Wins a 2026 Australian Good Design Award

We’re proud to share that Fliplab has been named a Winner in the 2026 Australian Good Design Awards, in the Product Design: Hardware and Building category.

This award reflects what we set out to do from day one, making beautiful cabinetry simple and affordable. Our Australian-made doors, drawer fronts and panels transform IKEA and Bunnings cabinetry. With over 5,000 combinations of profiles, colours and finishes, you can create a look that’s yours, from kitchens and laundries to wardrobes and beyond.

Jury Comments

“The Jury recognises Fliplab Australia for delivering an innovative and elegant design solution that bridges the gap between affordable flatpack cabinetry and bespoke joinery. The team has created a clever and accessible approach to personalisation, offering over 5000 Australian-made design combinations that transform modular base systems into beautiful, custom spaces.

The Jury commends the innovative business model that supports local manufacturing, reduces costs by up to 50% and encourages reuse through refacing existing cabinetry. This is not only an impactful design solution but a commercially smart and scalable proposition that makes inspired living spaces accessible to first home buyers and families across Australia. Well done.”

The idea behind Fliplab

During her years at Laminex, our founder Sacha saw how much people cared about the colours, materials and details of their joinery, and how hard it was to get the look they wanted on budget. Flatpack was affordable but limited. Fully custom joinery offered the look, but at a much higher price. Fliplab grew from a simple idea: personalise the parts people see, and keep the proven modular system underneath.

The Jury’s recognition of affordability, local manufacturing and reuse means a lot to us, because those were the goals from day one.

“Pairing IKEA carcasses with Fliplab fronts gave us the considered, custom feel we wanted, without the cost of fully bespoke joinery.”
– Mason & Belle, Geelong
